Lindsay Park enters the Andrew Ramsden Stakes at Flemington with high expectations

Lindsay Park enters the Andrew Ramsden Stakes at Flemington with high expectations for its two stayers.

Sin To Win and Charlevoix line up for the stable in the 3200m-Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes on Saturday which has attracted a field of 16.

Lindsay Park held high hopes for both horses in a 2800m-race at Flemington on May 5 but those hopes were dashed when Sin To Win parted company with jockey Cory Parish less than 200m after the start.

Luckily the gelding escaped unscathed and he galloped on with the field.

Junior partner in the training set-up, Ben Hayes, said Sin To Win was going as well now as before that run.

“He had the mishap last start but it doesn’t seem to have affected him,” Hayes said.

“It was a bit frustrating but he came out of the run around without any problems and his work since has been excellent.

“It’s his first time out to 3200 metres but we’ve always thought he’d be a nice stayer.”

Hayes says Sin To Win, to be ridden by Andrew Mallyon, has been going much better than Charlevoix in his races and track work.

Their last race was a win that had got away from the stable with Charlevoix finishing second to Sherlock Holmes.

Like his stablemate, Charlevoix is yet to be tried at 3200m but Hayes doesn’t expect it to be a problem.

“He ran the 2800 metres out strongly last time so he deserves a shot,” Hayes said.

“But if he doesn’t go that well on Saturday we’ll look to go jumping with him.

“He’s had a few schools and I think that’s what has woken him up so if he stays the trip he’ll be competitive.”

Apart from the Melbourne Cup, the Andrew Ramsden Stakes is the only 3200m-race run at Flemington.

Chequered Flag holds favouritism at $7 ahead of Sherlock Holmes and Big Hammer at $7.50 with Runaway at $8.

Sin To Win is on the next line at $9 with Charlevoix at $9.50 alongside Romanesque.
