The Peter Moody-trained two-year-old Le Societe earned a break and a spring campaign when she overpowered her rivals at Sandown on Saturday.

The Anabaa filly impressed her rider, stable apprentice Daniel Stackhouse, who also rode her to win by 4-1/4 lengths on debut over 1000m on a heavy track at Sandown last month.

Sent out $1.60 favourite in the Jim Conway Hcp (1200m), Le Societe settled back from the outside barrier in the small field of seven but quickly picked up her rivals in the slow going to score by three-quarters of a length from Crucial ($21).

Another Moody-trained filly, Passilente ($17), was 2-1/4 lengths away third.

“She got caught wide but she relaxed beautifully and did everything perfectly,” Stackhouse said.

“The horse in front of her came out and gave her a bit of a shunt on the turn which put her off stride a little bit but she picked herself up really strongly.

“The way she picks them up is amazing. It’s a great feeling.

“She’s going to be a very nice three-year-old filly.”

Moody was at the Eagle Farm meeting on Saturday but stable foreman Tom Brideoake said the filly would now be aimed at the spring carnival.

“She’ll go out now for a bit of a let-up and Pete will organise a spring campaign for her,” he said.

“She’s got a lovely temperament back in the yard and anything you ask her to do she does it easily.”

Le Societe is raced by the Limerick Lane Syndicate, managed by Gerry Ryan who part-owns Melbourne Cup winner Americain.

The filly is bred on the same cross as Moody’s 2010 Caulfield Guineas winner Anacheeva being by Anabaa out of a Zabeel mare.

Le Societe is out of Ritzy Lady, a New Zealand St Leger winner, and was purchased for $NZ175,000 at the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale at Karaka.
