In-form filly Jurasound will be given her chance at Group One glory in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.

The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained daughter of Von Costa De Hero will be tackling 2000 metres for the first time on Saturday.

Dabernig said the three-year-old could not go into the race any fitter following her last start second to Fontein Ruby in the VOBIS Gold Reef (1600m) at Caulfield on April 18.

Fontein Ruby will again be one of her opponents on Saturday.

Dabernig joined Hayes in partnership this season after working for the Hall Of Fame trainer for many years, starting when Lindsay Park was based in South Australia.

“Fontein Ruby was just a bit too good for us last time,” Dabernig said.

“Stepping up to the 2000 metres is a little concern but she’s very good at the mile and I guess until you try them you don’t really know.

“We are going into the unknown but she gives the indication she should, and importantly she is very fit.”

Before her Caulfield placing, Jurasound had strung together three wins in succession, two at Mornington and one at Moonee Valley.

Hayes and Dabernig will also be represented by Gregers and Wawail in the other feature Group One race, the 1200m Sangster Stakes for fillies and mares.

Dabernig said Gregers should be at her peak after two runs from a spell.

She carried 59kg when third behind Politeness in the Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on April 18.

“She had a big weight last time and drew barrier one and the way Caulfield was racing, the fence was a bit off,” Dabernig said.

“She still ran really well and third-up she should be spot on.”

Group Two Kewney Stakes winner Wawail has been freshened since her last-start third behind Fontein Ruby over 1600m at Moonee Valley on March 27 and will wear blinkers on Saturday.
