Jumps jockey Paul Hamblin has been suspended for the rest of the jumps racing season for betting.
Hamblin faced a Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board hearing in Melbourne on Thursday and pleaded guilty to placing bets on thoroughbred races during a three-day period last month.
None of the bets placed by Hamblin were on races in which he rode.
Stewards charged Hamblin with placings 39 bets totalling $620 on horse races in Victoria and interstate.
They had opened an investigation into Hamblin’s betting activities after receiving a tip-off.
The RAD Board banned Hamblin from riding in races until September 29. The last jumps race in Australia this year is on September 28.
Hamblin was stood down on May 9 when stewards laid the charge against him.
The RAD Board ordered Hamblin be allowed to return to trackwork on August 1, subject to the approval of racing authorities.
Hamblin had previously been suspended in 2007 for betting offences.
