Brisbane is facing a shortage of claiming apprentices after two more were suspended at Ipswich on Wednesday.
Alannah Fancourt, who is leading the Brisbane jockeys premiership, was outed for six meetings and fellow apprentice Cassie Schmidt for seven meetings.
They both pleaded guilty to careless riding charges and their suspensions are scheduled to start on Saturday night.
Luke Dittman also has a seven race suspension from last Saturday hanging over his head while another junior rider, Beau Appo, is serving a suspension.
Apprentices Bridget Grylls, Ruby Ride and Emma Leung are out with serious injuries.
Yet another claiming apprentice in Geoff Goold missed the Ipswich meeting with injury but will hopefully be back soon.
Senior jockey Larry Cassidy’s knee injury isn’t healing as well as he would like and he will be out for a longer period.
Top jockey Damian Browne is hopeful his knee problems will resolve in time to ride Buffering in his Melbourne campaign next month.
