Jeff Lloyd has moved within one win of Chris Munce’s Brisbane jockeys’ premiership record with a double at Doomben.

Lloyd will front an appeal body in Sydney on Friday as he fights a six-meeting suspension from his ride on beaten favourite Houtzen in the Golden Slipper last Saturday.

On Wednesday he won on Fallacy ($1.90) and Prontezza ($4.20), both for his major supporter and the trainer of Houtzen, Toby Edmonds.

It left him on 102 winners, one behind Munce’s total of 103 set in the 2011/12 season.

“It is not much use getting ahead of yourself. What will happen will happen,” Lloyd said.

Stable foreman Trent Edmonds said both Fallacy and Prontezza were well above average and would go on to win better races.

“Fallacy is very well bred being out of a former top race mare in Rostova (who won the VRC Sires’ Produce). She is bred to be a very good horse in the wet and she showed that today,” Edmonds said.

“Prontezza can run sensational times on the track. Don’t be shocked if she wins a good race before too long.”

In an ironic twist Munce, now a trainer, denied Lloyd chance to equal his record when First Crush ($5 ) won the Class 2 Hcp (1650m).

Lloyd finished third on She Goes Pop who had loomed a possible winner at the top of the straight.

“First Crush was ridden a treat by my apprentice Michael Murphy. The gelding was fitter than the rest and too strong,” Munce said.

He was able to give Murphy another ride when apprentice Matt McGillivray refused to ride Collar’s Up who finished fourth in the last race.

McGillivray told stewards he was not comfortable riding on the heavy track.

Munce said he would also replace McGillivray on his rides for the stable on Friday night at Caloundra.
