James Cummings, the grandson of legendary trainer Bart Cummings, has trained his first winner in his own name with Nazir scoring at Canterbury on Wednesday.
James Cummings was in a training partnership with his famous grandfather, who died on Sunday aged 87.
The stable had a winning double at Wyong on Sunday when the horses raced in the names of Bart and James.
However, the Canterbury meeting marked the end of an incredible era with James Cummings listed as the sole trainer of the stable’s nine runners on Wednesday.
Nazir is nominated for the Melbourne Cup, a race Bart Cummings made his own with a record 12 wins.
