Canberra-based filly Jackpot Queen may line up in the Listed Quezette Stakes in two weeks after bouncing back to winning form at Caulfield.

Trainer Matthew Dale made a late decision to run the daughter of Not a Single Doubt in Saturday’s Timothy Hunter Hcp (1000m) after she had failed at her previous start at the track.

“The other day nothing went right for her,” Dale said of the filly’s seventh to Hot Spin on July 16.

Hot Spin franked the form when he won Saturday’s Dean McNeill Hcp (1000m) and is now being aimed at a clash with Sepoy in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) on the same day as the Quezette (1100m).

Dale said he was confident Jackpot Queen would have learned from her first Caulfield start and she was more tractable on Saturday.

“Last start from the wide gate she sat four deep but we came here today knowing she would better off for the experience,” Dale said.

“She still hobbled around the corner today but she knuckled down and got the job done.”

Jackpot Queen was in the first two all the way and held off an eye-catching finish from first starter Forever The Chill to score by a short neck with pacemaker Exceedingly Regal a short half-head away third.

“We were undecided about coming for this race but when she drew well and we did the form she looked very well placed,” Dale said.

Jackpot Queen has won four of her nine starts and was successful at Flemington on May 21.

“We bought her as a two-year-old and she was a little, tiny thing,” Dale said.

“She is not much to look at but she’s all heart.”

“She has done a super job to win, what she now is probably not far off needing a good break.

“She might have one more run before a break but we will see how she pulls up.”
