RACE ONE

Godolphin runner Paulele went around as the second most popular galloper in the Widden Kindergarten Stakes (1100 metres).

Vandoula Lass held the most money. In fact, she held nearly 25 percent of the total investment.

Of the others, Kalina ($10-$8) was a decent trim up throughout the day.

BETS: Paulele $1,000 @ $5, $2,000 @ $4.60

 

RACE TWO

Kiku was a decent push all week and landed the cash in the Fujitsu General Carbine Club Stakes (1600 metres).

The Chris Waller-trained filly opened at $8.50 on Wednesday and the price was taken almost immediately.

Today, she was $3.80-$3.90 and landed some good bets. Kiku was responsible for 28 percent of the total investment with only The Irishman ($2.50 fav) holding more.

BETS: Kiku $5,000 @ $4.60

 

RACE THREE

Favourite backers and multi players were celebrating after Art Cadeau led throughout to win the Newhaven Park Country Championships Final (1400 metres).

Terry Robinson’s stable star opened a $15 favourite when markets were first released and was always at the top of betting for the series.

Despite drifting slightly from $2.90-$3.30 today, Art Cadeau went around nearly three times as popular as the next pick in the market (Rothenburg, $9-$8).

Ridden by Tommy Berry, Art Cadeau was responsible for 42 percent of the market.

RACE FOUR

One of the best movers all week was Duais who did the right thing by her backers by taking out the TAB Adrian Knox Stakes (2000 metres).

TAB went up $11 about the daughter of Shamus Award on Wednesday and she immediately came in for some action at the price.

Today, she was pretty solid at the $5 mark and eventually started second pick behind Flexible ($4-$4.60).

Money for the Ed Cummings-trained winner accounted for nearly 20 percent of the investment.

Of the others, Darling Diamond ($7-$5.50) was a notable mover while runner-up Bargain ($26-$16) had support at the eachway odds.

RACE FIVE

In a very open race, Quick Thinker proved best in the Schweppes Chairman’s Quality (2600 metres).

Opening the day at $16 and bottoming out at $13, the Baker & Forsman-trained galloper jumped at $15 and only had light interest compared to some of the others.

Sacramento ($4.40-$4.80) was easily the most popular and held three times as much as anything else.

Selino ($7) had plenty of admirers and was the only other horse to hold six figures.

Paths Of Glory ($10-$8.50) and Rondinella ($9.50-$6.50-$7) ran up to the support for them at their respective prices.

RACE SIX

Anamoe went around as the best backed runner on the entire Randwick card all week and justified the support by thrashing his rivals in the Inglis Sires’ (1400m).

The James Cummings-trained youngster went around a dominant $1.90 favourite after $2.30 was posted earlier in the week.

The son of Street Boss was five times as popular as anything else and held close to seven figures on the day.

Needless to say, with James McDonald doing the steering, Anamoe was heavily leveraged through multis too.

Overall the colt was responsible for 60 percent of the total investment.

RACE SEVEN

The horse that had good specking all week landed the prize at decent odds in the Bentley Australian Derby (2400 metres).

Explosive Jack was $34 after the barrier draw on Tuesday and came in for support at the juicy price consistently in the lead-up to today’s Group One.

The Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace runner was $18-$17 on the day and went around with as much money as the runner-up Young Werther ($15) and Khoekhoe ($10).

Sky Lad ($4.20) went around as the most popular while Montefilia ($4-$3.40) had strong backing late after being $4 in the morning.

RACE EIGHT

The market was spot on in the lead-up to the Heineken TJ Smith Stakes (1200 metres).

Nature Strip was backed from $3.50-$3.20 while Bivouac went out the gate, $3.80-$4.80.

Eduardo, which had been third pick in the morning, went $4.20-$3.70 off the back of heavy support throughout the afternoon. In the end, Nature Strip and Eduardo finished first and third while Bivouac was unplaced.

Masked Crusader ($6.50) ran up to the support for him by winding up second.

In terms of popularity, it was Bivouac in front of Nature Strip with the pair accounting for more than half the market.

RACE NINE

Cascadian landed a big result for those that took the good price about him in The Star Doncaster Mile (1600 metres).

James Cummings’ six-year-old was $17 after Tuesday’s barrier draw and attracted some decent specking all week.

Today, that support continued with the Jamie Kah-ridden gelding going $12-$8.

Mugatoo ($4.40-$4.80-$4) went around as the most popular runner, by far and away. He held 37 percent of the total investment.

Avilius ($10) had plenty of admirers and held more money than anything else outside the fav, while Cascadian was next best in the popularity stakes.

Others to have had decent backing included Forbidden Love ($17-$10-$12), Aegon ($12) and Yao Dash ($12-$15).

Matchmaker peaked at $16 before getting into $12 at the jump for the running of the China Horse Club PJ Bell Stakes (1200 metres).

Marboosha nearly defied the betting drift after going $6-$8 and missing in a photo.

Never Talk was the big mover all week, going $8 on Wednesday into $3.70 this morning. She started $4.60.

Macroura ($5.50-$4.40) went around as the most popular runner in terms of money held.
