The horse at the centre of the controversial Randwick scratching last weekend, is scheduled to race at Rosehill this Saturday.
Her name is MONTEFILIA (Kermadec-Bana Wu) and last weekend her scratching sent punters and rival trainers to the rule books after Racing NSW stewards tweeted she had been scratched due to the manner in which the track was racing.
It is against the rules of racing to scratch a horse because of track bias.
Last week the Randwick track was favouring leaders.
Once this became a storm, stewards retweeted this: For clarification, the request from trainer D Payne was made on the basis that he believed the track to be racing worse than a heavy (9) & he was of the view the filly would not be competitive on the surface & therefore Stewards approved the scratching.
Hmm, even that was met with skepticism because the very talented, come-from-behind filly had already placed in town…on a Heavy 8 track.
With a deluge expected to fall in Sydney this Friday afternoon, continuing onto Saturday, will the David Payne team look to scratch her again?
If they don’t then she looms as a genuine threat based on her talent.
Glen Boss is booked to ride her but she faces the emerging might of three last start impressive city winners in ROYAL BANQUET, MATOWATAKPE and his stablemate DANCING GIDGET.
