MELBOURNE, June 18 AAP – Mornington trainer David Brideoake says he wished he had more horses with an attitude like Dance With Her who completed a winning hat-trick at Moonee Valley.
The four-year-old daughter of Group One Australian Guineas winner Al Maher was backed from $4.20 to $3.30 and jockey Dwayne Dunn took her forward to sit off race leader Third Day.
Dance With Her slipped away on the turn and kept going strongly to take out Saturday’s Dominant Hcp (2040m) by two lengths from Picalero ($9.50) with topweight Shylock’s Daughter ($6.50) 2-1/4 lengths away third.
After running third over 2080m at Cranbourne, the mare scored by six lengths at Kyneton and then progressed to a midweeker at the Valley where she won over 2040m earlier this month – all on heavy ground.
While Brideoake believes Dance With Her is at her best on heavy going, the mare didn’t mind the improving slow (6) track on Saturday.
“That’s her third time over 2000 metres and she has needed to be seasoned and she stayed it very well today,” Brideoake said.
“There was good, genuine speed and we were very fit and it was a matter of wearing the others out.
“That was a career best for her.
“She’s been up for a while now and she’s getting better. She’s a terrific horse to train.
“She’s just an absolute professional, a fantastic, tough animal.
“We’ll just look for another mares race in town for her.”
Dance With Her has now won six races and been placed in another seven of 23 starts.
She has won four of nine starts so far this preparation.
