Comeback apprentice Bridget Grylls followed instructions to break back into the city winner’s list aboard smart filly Bagus at Doomben.
Grylls made full use of an inside barrier to trail the pace and come away in the straight to beat Gracefully Chic ($14) by 2 1/4 lengths in the Quest Breakfast Creek Handicap.

It was Grylls’ first win in the metropolitan area since she returned from a five-month break as she nursed a fractured wrist from a fall behind the barriers in August.
She rode Bagus to win her first start two weeks ago at Ipswich and trainer Kelly Schweida had no hesitation in sticking with Grylls.
“Bridget is a hard worker and she does what you tell her. It worked out exactly as we planned today,” Schweida said.
Bagus was a $15,000 buy at the Rockhampton Yearling Sales and has already returned $88,000.
She was bred by Adele Kiernan who raced both her sire Jet Spur and her dam Jezzamine .
Kiernan’s brother Col Archer, who also owns a share in Jet Spur, part-owns Bagus and said he had high hopes for the filly.
Grylls, who resumed riding on January 1, said it was good to getting winners in the city.
“Kelly has stuck by me and I always enjoy riding a winner for him,” she said.
Jockey Damian Browne said he could offer no excuses for the favourite Cougar ($2.40) who ran fourth after leading for home.
