Gout Gout to appear on Stawell Cup Day

Rising athletics star Gout Gout is set to make a special appearance at Stawell Cup day on Easter Sunday, coinciding with the iconic Stawell Gift.

Stawell Racing Club manager Rachel Samsonenko said his presence is generating excitement, with strong interest from fans and increased ticket sales.

“What a thrill to have Gout Gout on course, it’s so exciting for the club and our region to have a sprinting superstar add to our Cup Day”, Samsonenko told Racing.com.

“I’ve already had people in the community ask whether the rumours are true (Gout attending the Stawell Gold Cup). When confirming the news, they want to buy a ticket to Cup Day and the (Stawell) Gift, which is so good for the town.

“It’s the biggest weekend of the year for Stawell, and the added star-factor will bring more people to our Cup meeting, for sure.”

The event’s success in securing Gout was largely due to prominent businessman Sandy McGregor, majority owner of 2015 Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance.
