Following the luckless run by STAY INSIDE (Extreme Choice – Nothin Leica Storm) when 4th in Saturday’s $300,000 Todman Stakes, his regular rider James McDonald has been replaced.
Tommy Berry will ride the previously unbeaten easing 2021 Golden Slipper favourite.
McDonald will no doubt be given one of Chris Waller’s runners in the rich $3million Gr 1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill on 20 March.
Stay Inside, who had won his previous two starts comprehensively, just could not get a run at not just a crucial, but at any stage in the straight, until very late when charging home a brave 4th to ANAMOE (Street Boss – Anamato) in the Todman.
He is in the Golden Slipper field and is currently an easing $6.00 chance.
But, given how potent he has been on rain effected ground, if it comes down at all near race time, Berry may well have picked up the winning ride.
No decision has been made yet but McDonald most likely will ride SHAQUERO (Shalaa – Fimatino) the horse he brilliantly won the Breeders’ Plate on, now in the Golden Slipper.
