The powerful Goldolphin stable opened its winter carnival account in Brisbane on Saturday
The powerful Goldolphin stable opened its winter carnival account in Brisbane when Marsupial won at Doomben on Saturday.
Jockey Jim Byrne turned in a near perfect ride to get Marsupial ($2.60) home by a half length to Oneness ($14) with a short neck to Snitz ($5) in the Three-Year-Old Plate (1350m).
Godolphin general manager Vin Cox said the stable had always had a good opinion of Marsupial and hoped the winter would give the gelding a chance to prove it.
“Marsupial was highly rated by us as a two-year-old but he has a few problems. It was good to see him win a race in style,” Cox said.
He said trainer James Cummings would sit down and work out the rest of the winter fro Marsupial.
