New Zealand star galloper Gingernuts has suffered what appears to be a cannon bone injury prior to the running of today’s Emirates Stakes.
Gingernuts hurt himself on the way to the barriers prior to the running of the $2m Emirates Stakes at Flemington where he was the heavily backed second favourite in markets before he was scratched from the race.
The race was delayed due to the incident in which the horse ambulance had to be called to pickup Gingernuts whilst the on course vet strapped the horses legs.
Early reports are Gingernuts has a cannon bone injury with more information to be known in the coming hours.
