A freak accident on race day morning led to the scratching of key Queensland Derby runner Scarlett Dream.
Scarlett Dream who was the well backed third favourite for today’s G1 Queensland Derby was a late scratching after the horse punctured her girth when she was taken out for a light trot.
โGot injured this morning when she went out for a trot, ran into a fence got a puncture wound near girthโ trainer Mark Newnham said
Scarlett Dream ran second in the Australian Oaks behind Verry Elleegant before an eye catching run in The Roses, she was a $6 chance before being scratched.
