Frankie Dettori hopes he can finally break his Melbourne Cup hoodoo when he partners with one of the Lloyd Williams-owned runners in this years cup.
Williams, who could have up to 4 runners in the 2019 Melbourne Cup, struck a deal with Dettori that will see him ride Master Of Reality in this year’s edition of the 3200m race.
Dettori, 48, first attempted to win the Melbourne Cup 26 years ago aboard English raider Drum Taps.
The champion jockey has ridden in 16 Melbourne Cups with his best results landing him in second place aboard Central Park in 1999 and Max Dynamite in 2015.
Master Of Reality, trained by Joseph O’Brien, finished third in the Ascot Gold Cup (4014m) in June.
