The first foal by Frankel to be offered for auction in the southern hemisphere will be one of the last lots at the Premier sale at Karaka in Auckland.
The colt out of Our Echezeaux will go through the ring late on Tuesday.
Breeder Sir Peter Vela sent two mares to Frankel in 2013 to be served to southern hemisphere time with Our Echezeaux the only one of the pair to get in foal.
“Sir Peter had seen Frankel run in Europe and he thought he was the best horse that he had ever seen,” Pencarrow Stud manager Leon Casey told nzracing.co.nz
“We’re really just looking for the next really good outcross for the family and Frankel’s in his own category as a racehorse.”
The son of Galileo was undefeated in 14 starts, including 10 at Group One level for the late Sir Henry Cecil.
“It was a big undertaking and there were quite a few quarantine restrictions they’ve since changed,” Casey said.
“It’s a bit easier now, but at the time it was quite a bit to work with, but the mare got in foal first pop.
“He’s a classic type of horse, he’s a lovely walker and he’s probably everything you hope for when you send a mare all the way to England to breed a foal.”
Te Akau’s David Ellis bought the highest-priced lot on Monday, paying $775,000 for a colt by Cox Plate winner Savabeel out of Bling.
Melbourne trainer Henry Dwyer paid $200,000 for a brother to Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance.
Ellis was the underbidder on the unusual white filly by High Chapparal out of The Opera House which was bought by Japanese businessman Hideo Takadaru for $450,000.
