Too Good To Refuse Desleigh Forster believes the best is yet to come for Too Good To Refuse

Too Good To Refuse and Cylinder Beach have lived up to predictions they would be major players in the Brisbane summer but trainer Desleigh Forster believes the best is yet to come.

The Brisbane summer carnival ends on Saturday at Eagle Farm before action moves to the Gold Coast and the four-year-olds will again be centre stage.

Too Good To Refuse will be chasing a Magic Millions Cup (1400m) wild card when he tackles the Buffering Quality (1400m) on Saturday.

Cylinder Beach will line up in the Listed Bernborough Stakes (1600m) where he will be seeking revenge for an unlucky last-start second in the Brisbane Handicap.

The pair have each won a stakes race this campaign and have a combined $200,000 prize money from the summer.

Forster has always intended to give both horses a light summer.

Too Good To Refuse won the Listed Keith Noud Quality and was second in the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes as well as being runner up in an unsuitable 1110m race first-up.

Cylinder Beach won the Listed Recognition Stakes before coming from last in the Brisbane Handicap.

“I have been happy with them this time and they have lived up to expectations. They haven’t always had the best of luck but when you are racing quality horses you have to expect that things won’t always go your way,” Forster said.

“At their last starts both got a long way back in the field but finished off the races just the way you want.”

Forster said Cylinder Beach was likely to go for a spell after Saturday but Too Good To Refuse might have one more run.

“It would be a good way to finish the summer for him if he can get a wild card into the Magic Millions. Cylinder Beach is by a New Zealand sire and not eligible for the series,” she said.

However, Forster believes there will be bigger things ahead for the pair.

“I might take them to Sydney for the autumn carnival but Brisbane’s winter has always been my aim for them,” she said.

“There are some races in Sydney which would suit them both around the 1600 metre range. Of course the Stradbroke Handicap here is in the back of my mind.”
