Trainer Peter Moody will search the calendar for a suitable stakes race following the first-up win of Sino Eagle at Flemington on Saturday.
Already stakes placed, Moody said it is incumbent on him to build on the mare’s record of seven wins by claiming a black-type victory.
Just where that victory comes, Moody is unsure.
“I’ve got no targets but we want to build on that black type,” Moody said.
“I’ve won black-type races with worse than her, so whether there’s a little something in Adelaide then we’ll look at it.”
Having her first start since November, Sino Eagle ($6) stalked the speed under Luke Nolen before getting a run near the fence and going on to win the Mrs Mac’s Family Bakery Sprint (1200m) by three-quarters of a length from Sentfromthestars ($7.50).
Moody admitted his only pre-race concern for both he and Nolen was the small field, but the hoop was able to get cover which was difference between winning and losing.
“She had run well in low grade stakes races before and got into this race quite well and fresh, she’s pretty good,” Moody said.
