Tamworth trainer Sue Grylls plans to bring Fickle Folly back to town for the Listed Starlight Stakes after mare’s tenacious win at Randwick.
Fickle Folly ($13) put her nose down on the line to claim the E-Group Security Stakes (1000m) by a short half-head after resisting the challenge of the favourite I Thought So ($3.60).
“We’d really like to get a Listed (win) with her, she’s run third in a Group Three so I don’t think it’s beyond her,” Grylls said.
Grylls brought the four-year-old to Sydney for the first time in February and she made light of the journey by winning a Highway Handicap at Rosehill.
The plan is to return to Rosehill on December 3 for the Starlight over 1100m.
“She’s proved today she’s a tough little thing. She’s stronger this time,” Grylls said.
“It was a tough field but I’ve always had a high opinion of this little mare.”
Grylls praised veteran jockey Robert Thompson for an astute ride after Fickle Folly stayed unbeaten this preparation.
“Robert gave her a perfect ride, he never went for her until the last 200 metres. He just saved her and saved her for that last bit.”
