Dwayne Dunn’s hopes of riding exciting sprinter Deep Field in Group One Lightning Stakes will be decided on Wednesday.
Dunn has appealed the severity of an eight-meeting careless riding suspension and needs the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board to shave at least one meeting off to allow him to keep the ride on Deep Field on Saturday.
Deep Field is unbeaten in his five starts and is considered one of the most exciting sprinters in the country.
The four-year-old entire is set to make his Group One debut on Saturday.
He has not raced since he stepped up to Group Two company at Flemington in November last year.
Deep Field was an impressive winner of a jump-out at Flemington last Friday in preparation for the Lightning.
Trained by the Hawkes family partnership, Deep Field was one of 10 nominations taken on Monday for the Lightning (1000m) which includes the world’s equal-highest ranked sprinter Lankan Rupee.
