A video used in the case against Darren Weir has shown a runner in last years Melbourne Cup being prod with an electronic device ‘jigger’ in lead up to the race.
The Darren Weird trained Red Cardinal was shown to be zapped with a ‘jigger’ whilst using a treadmill in the week leading into last years Melbourne Cup.
The distressing footage was obtained by planted cameras at Darren Weir’s stables and was shown in the animal cruelty case against Darren Weir, Jarrod McLean and stablehand Tyson Kermond.
Darren Weir is currently serving a four year ban from racing.
