Damien Oliver breaks G1 record

Champion jockey Damien Oliver with his win on Seabrook in the Champagne Stakes took his total Group 1 wins to 109 surpassing the great Roy Higgins.

Roy Higgins aka The Professor held the record of most Australian Group 1 wins with Damien Oliver at 108 up until “Oli” gave Seabrook a fitting ride to overtake the great jockey in Saturday’s Champagne Stakes at Randwick with his 109 G1 win.

Oliver is now only ten wins behind George Moore who holds the record of most Group 1’s (Internationally) at 119.

Included in his Group 1 wins he has won each of the four majors having taken out the Caulfield Cup four times, Melbourne Cup three times, Cox Plate twice and the Golden Slipper.
