A Fastnet Rock colt has realised expectations at the New Zealand Premier Yearling sale, fetching $NZ1.975 million ($A1.60 million).
Knocked down to Irish conglomerate Coolmore after a spirited bidding duel, the colt out of Celebria will be trained in Australia by David Hayes.
Trainer Peter Moody and New Zealand owner-breeder David Ellis tried hard to secure the colt but could not outlast Coolmore.
A half brother to Group One winner Gathering, the colt was bred by John Camilleri, a director of the Australian Turf Club.
It is the fifth highest price paid at the Karaka sale.
