The hearing into cobalt charges against high-profile Melbourne trainers Mark Kavanagh and Danny O’Brien continues before the Racing And Appeals and Disciplinary Board.
The two trainers formally pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges relating to elevated cobalt readings.
Veterinary surgeon Tom Brennan also pleaded not guilty to 20 charges but in a dramatic twist, he altered his plea to all but one after an adjournment on the opening day.
The vet has admitted adding a substance called Vitamin Complex to an IV drip but has denied knowing it contained cobalt.
He has maintained his not guilty plea to administering a prohibited substance for the purpose of affecting the result of a race.
Four O’Brien horses, Caravan Rolls On, Bondeiger, De Little Engine and Bullpit, and the Kavanagh-trained Magicool all returned levels above the threshold of 200 micrograms per litre of urine from races last year.
The case against Brennan will be heard first when the inquiry resumes on Tuesday.
