The jury is still out on whether Chautauqua will be given another chance after he came out of the gates last in a Rosehill barrier trial but picked up the field to run second.
Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel says he and his panel will consider whether to give the sprinter another chance to prove himself in a trial after six refusals and Saturday’s slow start.
“He came out five or six lengths behind them which is not satisfactory so we have to consider whether we will let him have another trial,” he said.
Once again Chautauqua has failed to exit the barriers effectively. He was, however, very competitive down the straight, making up a huge amount of ground for a close second to Zousain. pic.twitter.com/dTWUIkzRh9
