Plans to run The Taj Mahal first-up in Saturday’s Group Three Peter Young Stakes (1800m) have been scrapped with the Lloyd Williams operation opting to tackle a Flemington Group One instead.
Part-owner Nick Williams said on Twitter that drawing an outside barrier in the last race of the Caulfield meeting was the reason behind the scratching.
The Taj Mahal will now resume in the Group One Australian Cup (2000m) on March 10 before continuing his Autumn campaign in Sydney.
The Taj Mahal will not run in Peter Young at Caulfield. Has drawn the outside barrier and will get the worst of the track being last race of the day. Will now run Australian Cup first up then Sydney.
