Caulfield Cup winner Mer de Glace has been retired from racing after failing to fully recover from a tendon injury he suffered after running in the 2019 Melbourne Cup.
Attempts had been made to get the Hisashi Shimizu-trained gelding back racing but he never fully recovered and a decision was made to retire the Japanese champion.
Mer de Glace delivered Damian Lane his first Caulfield Cup win and would later go on to start as one of the favourites for the 2019 Melbourne Cup, where he would finish luckless in 6th position.
