Care To Think will gallop between races at Murwillumbah as a final hit-out before the Doomben 10,000

Emerging sprinter Care To Think will gallop between races at Murwillumbah as a final hit-out before the Group One Doomben 10,000.

Trainer Matt Dunn has entered Care to Think for a barrier trial after the last race at Murwillumbah on Monday but hopes the club will allow him to gallop the gelding on the course proper.

“Unless there is a dramatic change he will work on the course proper,” Dunn said.

“He is going very well at the moment and we are looking forward to Saturday’s 10,000.”

Care To Think hasn’t run since finishing second to Crack Me Up in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup at Randwick on March 3.

Dunn had considered running him in the Group One Doncaster Mile at Randwick but decided to give Care To Think an ease-up and bring him back for the winter.

Care To Think will be chasing the Group One treble of the Doomben 10,000, Kingsford Smith Stakes and Stradbroke Handicap.

“He is a horse who needs to draw a good barrier or he wants to over-race. At least we get three chances at drawing a good barrier in Brisbane,” Dunn said.

Jeff Lloyd who rode him to win the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast in January will partner Care To Think.

“Jeff knows him very well and has a big opinion of him,” Dunn said.

Dunn’s confidence has been boosted by Care To Think’s recent strong barrier trial win at Murwillumbah.

Care To Think beat Divine Unicorn who came out and won at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

A bargain buy at $16,000, Care To Think has already returned his owners $870,000 from his 12 starts which include six wins.
