Russian Revolution filly You Ess Ess Are will shoot for a winning debut at Cranbourne

The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young stable are hoping the well-named filly You Ess Ess Are can follow in the footsteps of her sire by scoring a winning wet-track debut at Cranbourne.

You Ess Ess Are is from the first crop of Russian Revolution who won seven of his 11 starts, including his first four, of which two were on soft tracks.

With rain falling on Friday, Saturday’s meeting at Cranbourne will be on affected ground, although You Ess Ess Are will get first crack of the track when she runs in the Rhino The Wreecker 2YO Plate (1000m).

Despite his early two-year-old wins on affected ground, Russian Revolution also won The Galaxy on a heavy track, one of two Group 1 wins for the former Peter & Paul Snowden -trained sprinter.

Busuttin has a lot of time for You Ess Ess Are but did not think she would be making it to the racetrack so early in her career.

But the filly has shown some sharpness in jump-outs at the Cranbourne Training Centre and the stable is keen to give her a try under race day conditions.

“She’s a nice sharp filly that has been to the jump outs a couple of times and been very quick,” Busuttin said.

“On the dam side she’s out of a European mare and we didn’t think we’d be seeing too much of her as a two-year-old, but she’s thrown to the sire and she’s nice and sharp.

“I think her first jump out might have been a bit wet and Russian Revolution won a Group 1 in the wet, but who really knows.

“We’ll see on Saturday if she gets through it.

“She’ll have one run and then go in the paddock, but we like her, we have an opinion of her, and she’ll be up there somewhere.”
