Champion Buffering’s little brother No Annamossity lived up to his family’s reputation with a tough win at Doomben on Saturday.

Trainer Rob Heathcote has always had a soft spot for No Annamossity ($7) who made it five wins from 16 starts when he charged home along the fence for apprentice Boris Thornton in the Canadian Club Handicap (1350m).

Heathcote was in Tasmania as guest speaker at a function but stable manager Mel Sharpe said No Annamossity had deserved to win a winter carnival race.

“No Annimossity is a three-quarter brother to our former champion Buffering and he is tough like him so it is no wonder Rob has a soft spot for him.

“He would have won more races except he has had time off and has two pins in his legs. I ride him all his work and you wouldn’t know it and he is just tough.”

Apprentice Boris Thornton rode his first winner for Heathcote with a rails-hugging ride.
