Melbourne sprinter Brooklyn Hustle could be in Perth later this year to target the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in November.

Co-trainer Jason Warren is keen to head west with his top mare after her top wins in Adelaide and Queensland during winter and autumn campaigns.

Brooklyn Hustle celebrated her first major win in the G3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville when given a gun ride from boom jockey Jamie Kah.

After settling last, Kah took the short route home along the fence and Brooklyn Hustle fought back strongly after Wild Vixen challenged hard in the final stages.

A month later at Eagle Farm the daughter of Starspangledbanner claimed a second stakes victory when she defeated Odeum and Madam Rouge in the G2 Dane Ripper (1300m).

Warren, who trains Brooklyn Hustle in partnership with Dean Krongold, said Perth’s feature sprint, the Winterbottom Stakes, looked a suitable assignment.

“It looks an achievable Group 1 and the firm track holds appeal,” Warren told The Races WA.

“It’s a chance to grab a Group 1 before retiring as a broodmare.

“She’ll have maybe up to three races in the east and then head over.

“The Invitation, the new race in Sydney, is also a race we can look at.

“Because she had a late winter campaign, she can have a late spring.

“She’s been in Queensland since the winter and is enjoying the sunshine on her back.

“She looks super and has put on 20kg’s in the last month.

“Her runs in the winter have not been taxing and she left the campaign on a good note.”

Warren is in line to have a second shot at the Winterbottom Stakes after bringing across Bel Sprinter in 2014.

The Bel Esprit gelding finished strongly for seventh behind Magnifisio but had to much ground to pick up from last.

Bel Sprinter won eight races and a touch over $1 million in prizemoney, highlighted by the G1 Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill.

Warren says Brooklyn Hustle is the best horse he has trained since Bel Sprinter.

“He didn’t have much luck in the Winterbottom,” said Warren.

“Hopefully we can get a bit more on our side second time out.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Perth.”
