Bonecrusher, the horse responsible for one of the greatest ever Cox Plate performances, has died in New Zealand at the age of 32.
The popular gelding was euthanised at the property of his owner Shirley Mitchell after contracting the hoof disease laminitis.
Bonecrusher is part of part of Australasian racing folklore with his most famous victory in the 1986 Cox Plate after a duel down the straight with Our Waverley Star.
He was trained throughout his career by Frank Ritchie.
