Bel Esprit filly Bolisimo Miss has earned a break before the spring after completing a three-race winning run with a tenacious victory at Flemington.
The rising three-year-old, who has only raced four times, was forced into a different role when she led all the way in Saturday’s AFL Life Members & Carbine Club Handicap (1100m).
It was in contrast to her previous two runs when she swept home from off the pace to win at Cranbourne on June 12 and Flemington on June 25.
Bolisimo Miss’ latest success has convinced co-trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra that she is up to spring class.
On Saturday Bolisimo Miss was heavily backed at $1.65 and defied a late challenge from Song Of The Bell ($6) to score by a short neck.
Ballarat winner Mo Vo ($17) was 3-1/4 lengths away third.
Zahra said apprentice Damian Lane had no choice but to lead on Bolisimo Miss when she jumped so well from the barriers.
“It was a pretty tough win,” Zahra said.
“She probably got found out a bit today in front, facing the breeze, and was probably on the bridle a bit.
“She got a bit lost but she has done a good job at the end of her prep.
“She’s had three starts for the prep for three wins and proved to us she is probably up to spring class.
“She will go out now and have a month off and come back for the fillies races later in the spring.”
