The multiple Group 1 sprinter Blue Point is new for Darley Australia this season, standing at Northwood Farm in Victoria having achieved a 131 Timeform rating.
Darley described Blue Point as ‘only the third horse in a century to win both top sprints at Royal Ascot in the same week, and the only horse to win three Group 1 sprints at the Royal meeting.’
Blue Point made it five-from-five in his final season in winning the King’s Stand Stakes 5f by 1¼ lengths over Nunthorpe Stakes winner Battaash, later to win the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at 6f.
At the Dubai World Cup Carnival, Blue Point won the Al Quoz Sprint of 1200m on World Cup Night having previously won the 1000m Meydan Sprint and Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint at 1200m.
As a 4yo Blue Point won his first King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in defeating Battaash, having previously been a head second in the Meydan Sprint, and later third in the Nunthorpe Stakes.
At two years he won the Gimcrack Stales of 6f by 3 lengths and was second in the Richmond Stakes. Later in the season he was second in the Middle Park Stakes and third in the Dewhurst Stakes.
At three he won the Pavilion Stakes and Bengough Stakes both over 6f, finishing third to Caravaggio in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and fourth in the Spring Cup to Harry Angel.
A bay at 16.1hh, Blue Point is by Giant’s Causeway’s successful Prix du Jockey-Club winning son Shamardal, and is half-brother to Railway Stakes winner Formosina.
His Royal Applause placed dam Scarlett Rose is half-sister to multiple Group 3 winning sire Tumbleweed Ridge and to the dam of Queen Mary Stakes winner Gilded, the dam of Fort Del Oro.
‘Blue Point, All Too Hot and Microphone, sons of Shamardal, Dubawi and Exceed and Excel, will launch their southern hemisphere stud careers in 2020,’ stated Darley.

Also at Northwood Farm Brazen Beau is currently Leading Third Season Sire by Stakes Winners with his $800,000 Inglis Premier top-lot North Pacific winning the Up And Coming Stakes at Royal Randwick.
As last season’s Leading Second Season Sire by Stakes Winners he had Pretty Brazen win the Sandown Guineas, with Colanda, Larimer Street, Sartorial Splendor and Ideas Man being black type winners.
In Europe Dubai Station and Avengers Queen were black type winners, while at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale his Military Miss colt sold for $420,000 to Rick Connolly Bloodstock.
Street Boss had Hanseatic as his best performer in 2019-20 in winning the Blue Diamond Prelude (c&g), Blue Diamond Preview (c&g) and Merson Cooper Stakes and second in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
At the Inglis Premier Sale his Cupid colt sold for $250,00, while In the US Social Paranoia, Totally Boss, Gold Street, Fair Maiden, Lady Alida were group and stakes winners, plus Unchained Melody in Asia.
Sepoy last season had Alizee win the Apollo Stakes, Missile Stakes and Sweet Scandal the Hawkesbury Crown, with Salute the Soldier, Lanana, Indian Blessing and Punita Arora being N/H stakes winners.
Already this year the ‘Met Mile’ winner Frosted had his first US runner Inject win on debut, while his half-sister to Santa Ana Lane sold to Spenthrift Australia for $650,000 at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
The Canterbury Stakes winner Holler had his first yearlings sell up to $140,000 this year, with Stradbroke Handicap winner Impending first weanling’s featuring a colt from Group 1 winner Jameka.
