Connections of unbeaten mare Black Caviar and unbeaten stallion Frankel have decided it is time to see who is the better galloper.
The stage has been set for Ascot racecourse during the Royal Ascot carnival in mid June this year giving both horses enough time to prepare for the race. Connections agreed Ascot will be the fairest racecourse to host the head to head race with Black Caviar having already won at the track and carnival previously.
The race will be run over 1400m and will have a standalone time slot with the race likely to be the first race on the last day of the carnival to best suit Australian audiences.
Black Caviar won 25 of her 25 career starts whilst Frankel went 14 from 14 with neither horse being beaten in a combined 39 races with one of the horses to face defeat for the first time. The race however will not count towards their overall career records as agreed upon by both parties.
The prize pool is yet to be announced but word has it some of the biggest studs and owners will contribute to what may be the richest and most anticipated race ever run.
