Top Wyong-based trainer Allan Denham will send a team to Scone races today and could walk away with a bounty.
Well, when I say team – it’s a pair actually.
And both his horses will be ridden by leading bush hoop Greg Ryan.
They appear in race 4 with the maiden filly LESSING (Written Tycoon-Impeach) and later in the day race 7 THAILAND (Adelaide-Aziani).
Both can and should win.
Lessing is a speed machine and she should dart through to lead her maiden rivals. Her biggest issue is the final 100m but she’s placed a couple of times now and with three runs under her belt, could be seasoned enough to hang tough.
It will be very hot, around 35, so coming from the back may be an issue.
Saying that, in contrast, the highly promising Thailand will sit just behind the pace. Thankfully, not too far out of it.
He sat off the speed at his 2nd start and just blew by them over 1280m to win his maiden pulling away by nearly 4 lengths at Muswellbrook last start. That was on Melbourne Cup day.
Obviously he is up in class here but the authority he showed was special.
And the 3YO is now 3rd up so is fitter and more experienced.
Being by Adelaide, he should appreciate the fact he gets an extra 20m to help too.
Adding to the growing confidence around Thailand is the fact he has been supported overnight on the corporates from $4.00 into $2.80.
