Three of Melbourne’s talented apprentices will be chasing milestone wins in stakes races on Finals Day at Flemington.
Four of the nine series finals on Saturday carry Listed status with Harry Coffey and Jackie Beriman trying to land their first stakes wins.
New Zealand apprentice Michael Dee, who has made an impression since arriving in Melbourne in January, has won a Group Two race at home but has only had one ride in a stakes race in Australia for a Listed placing on Ready To Fight in March.
Dee’s rides on Saturday are headlined by Hard Romp in the All Victorian Sprint Series Final, while he also rides Gungastruck in the Taj Rossi Series Final, Valderrama in the A R Creswick Series Final and last-start winner Coronation Shallan in the Winter Championship Final.
Coffey retains the ride on talented filly Our Harmony in the A R Creswick Series Final and he also rides two-year-old Flying Light in the Taj Rossi Series Final.
Beriman rides Solsay in the All Victorian Sprint Series Final, while Relentless is fourth emergency in the Winter Championship Final.
Beriman has ridden Solsay in 14 of his 41 starts for three wins and seven placings, including a placing in a Listed race last season.
