This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made…for Annabel Neasham.
The one time Sydney maestro for the powerful Ciaron Maher-David Eustace training operation, has split with the squad and gone out on her own.
And today, this afternoon, at Scone, she will saddle up the unraced but very speedy COMMANDING MISSILE (Smart Missile-Ocean Tempest) in race 5, the 1100m maiden for colts and geldings.
He will be her launching pad to fame and glory – he is her debut runner!
She knows this bloke too because he has been under her care and in the Maher-Eustace system for a few months with Neasham overseeing his progress. So on that score alone he must be considered.
But he also has won a city trial and looked more than handy under Tommy Berry in a trial recently when 3rd.
It would be the perfect start to a training career if Neasham can land a winner on debut.
A few years back, when at the height of his career, Peter Moody’s Sydney stable boss, Clare Cunningham left and went out on her own.
She has proven her worth quite brilliantly over the past two years.
Neasham is hoping, obviously, to do the same.
She is based at Warwick Farm and currently has four horses in work under her care.
We wish her all the very best.
