Angelic Light has done everything right since arriving in Perth as she chases her first Group One win in the Winterbottom Stakes.
Angelic Light has finished second at her only two attempts in Group One company and is favoured to go one better at Ascot on Saturday.
She was beaten a short head at her last start in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on October 24 with jockey Damien Oliver protesting against the winner Lankan Rupee.
Drawing barrier five, Angelic Light is the $2.80 favourite to take out the Winterbottom with Oliver aboard.
Griffiths said Angelic Light galloped on the course proper on Tuesday before an easy work-out on Thursday.
Angelic Light suffered some lacerations to her hind legs in the Manikato Stakes but they haven’t hindered her preparation with the plan always being to bypass the $1 million Darley Classic won by Terravista.
“We kept all options alive if travel arrangements to Perth were too difficult and if the travel couldn’t have been arranged it would have been the Darley and then a spell,” Griffiths said.
