There are 47 horses still in the running for next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup following the close of second declarations.

Query horses Linton, Glass Harmonium, Tactic and Booming were among acceptances, as were a number of fringe horses.

These include Ironstein, Green Moon, Shewan, Showcause and Midnight Martini.

All will need to run in the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) to cement their position in the race.
