The weights for the 2020 Melbourne Cup have today been released with Irish stayer Anthony Van Dyck given the top weight.
Racing Victoria’s chief handicapper Greg Carpenter has released the weights for the 2020 Melbourne Cup which will be run on November 3rd with last years winner Vow And Declare allocated 57kg.
Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck is the sole topweight for the 160th Melbourne Cup after being allocated 58.5kg with Aidan O’Briens other leading contender Irish Derby winner Sovereign is among a trio of horses allotted 57kg.
Pre-weights Melbourne Cup favourite Surprise Baby has has been handed 54.5kg whilst Chris Wallers star mare Verry Elleegant has been allocated 55kg.
