Typhoon Tracy recorded her first win in nearly 12 months with an unimpressive display in the Orr stakes.
Some believe she is back, however I don’t due to the fact that the margin was only a half-head and if you watch the replay, in all honesty, Heart Of Dreams should have won so the mare will have to improve big time if she wants to be at the top of the tree.
That position is held by More Joyous after she caned her rivals in the Breeders Classic at Randwick. Perfect ride by Nash and she had a tummy on her so expect massive improvement on that run.
Here is my review of the weekend’s racing and which horses should be followed for the remainder of the Autumn.
Randwick:
Run of the day:
Hard to go against More Joyous. Awesome first up win carrying 57.5kg and running a slick 1.08.6 for the 1200m with Nash hardly flinching on the champion mare. It’s going to take on hell of a run by another horse to get past her in the Doncaster. An honourable mention to Scottish Border also, who looks to be in for a really good preparation.
Ride of the day:
Beautifule ride by Tim Clark to get Scottish Border. It was his patience that won the race for the gelding. The other riders went for home but Clark waited and waited and in the end got the bikkies.
One to follow:
Clearly the one to follow is Ilovethiscity. Looked very big on Saturday and he ran a cracking race first up. Loomed up to win at the 200m but condition gave out and still only got beat a half length. He could be a danger to More Joyous for the Doncaster.
Caulfield:
Run of the day:
Was no real standout but Sepoy did look very good. Glided up to Huegill and put pay to him very quickly and raced away to win. If he gets a decent barrier and remains fit and healthy, he is the Blue Diamond winner.
Ride of the day:
Jason Maskiell on Miss Gai Flyer. Showed zilch last preparation and wasn’t given a hope at all. She jumped well and Maskiell got straight into the box seat, behind stablemate and the highly fancied Zelsnitz. Top of the straight, Maskiell hooks her out and bang, went straight past them. Textbook ride by a kid who is going to become one of our best.
One to follow:
Huegill. Ran third to Sepoy. Cruised to the lead and looked to travel well in the run before the class and race experience of Sepoy got to him before battling on well for third. He looks a nice type and could be a sneaky hope in future races for the Moody camp.
