The 2013 Golden Slipper is held on Saturday the 6th of April. The official field for the race is generally announced in the days leading up to the event, with punters around the country always keen for this announcement. With more than 2000 nominations received each year for the Golden Slipper, you can always be sure of a talented field.

The 2013 Golden Slipper is already looking promising, with a number of horses looking likely for the big race. Trainer Gai Waterhouse is confident that her star filly Overreach will perform well in the Slipper, with jockey Tommy Berry even more certain that Overreach can take home the big prize on the day.

Trainer Grant Allard also looks likely to have a horse in this year’s lineup, opting to have stable junior Napayshini ready for the 2013 Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens. Clarry Conners also has his eyes on the Golden Slipper with Assail, especially after the horse missed a start in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.

The final field for the 2013 Golden Slipper will be announced closer to race date, which this year takes place on Saturday the 6th of April. There are a number of important lead up event prior to the Golden Slipper, including the Pago Pago Stakes and Todman Stakes for colts and geldings and the Reisling Stakes.
