Jockey Shane Scriven has had a five-month suspension for his infamous whip-stealing incident reduced to three months on appeal.
Scriven was suspended for five months after stealing the whip of another rider in a race at Ipswich in May.
He appealed the severity of the sentence to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Council Tribunal and has been riding since on a stay of proceedings.
“I’m not happy but I’ll cop it,” Scriven said.
Scriven was the toast of Brisbane racing last month when he won the Group One Doomben Cup for a second time on veteran Perth star Scenic Shot.
Scriven, who has battled weight problems, feared his career would be over with a lengthy ban but has vowed to continue riding after he returns from a holiday in Dubai and Mauritius.
