Sunshine Coast horse trainer David Ronald Gafa faces up to seven years in prison if found guilty of drowning a four month old thoroughbred foal.
The charges placed by police against David Gafa are serious animal cruelty, breach of duty of care and wilful damage which has a maximum penalty of seven years behind bars.
Ross Barnett the Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner said “the welfare of racing animals is of the utmost importance and those who perform acts of cruelty to animals are on notice”.
Mr Gafa will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 22nd February.
