The immediate future of Group One winner Black Piranha will be decided in a Sydney sale ring.
A two-time Stradbroke Handicap hero, Black Piranha has been added to the list of entries for Inglis’ Sydney Spring Thoroughbred Sale on Friday.
Black Piranha will be the last of 107 catalogued lots to go under the hammer at Inglis’ Newmarket sales complex at Randwick.
An eight-year-old, Black Piranha is being sold to dissolve the partnership of 10 individual owners who have raced the $2.6 million earner, Inglis says.
“Situations where the partnership involved in a horse needs be dissolved are unfortunate, but public auction is considered the best way of resolving any issues,” Inglis spokesman Jonathan D’Arcy said.
Trained for the majority of his 60-start career by Con Karakatsanis, Black Piranha has finished just behind the placegetters in three recent Sydney weight-for-age runs.
He was a Group One placegetter as recently as six starts ago when third to crack mare Beaded in the Doomben 10,000.
