If you’re looking for one to Black Book, and or write down as a Country Championships horse for 2012, then here it is.
FARMER’S FRIEND (Zoffany-Forcibly) ran second in the big bush bash at Dubbo on Sunday afternoon over 1100m.
The big $50,000 Class 2 race brought together a bumper crop of gallopers who came from near and far and was won quite easily in the end by the promising BLITZAR (Deep Field-Breannon) who chalked up his 3rd win from 9 starts.
But Farmer’s Friend was massive in behind him finishing 2nd.

He drew 17 and no horse ever wins over this trip at Dubbo from out there.
So he was snagged back to last and was trailing the field coming to the bend, then went four deep looking for a run. It never came, so he ducked back to the rails.
For some reason Mitchell Bell his rider, didn’t want to be on the fence, and moved him out just when a glorious rails run came.
The poor bewildered beast was running his heart out as Bell tried desperately to find gaps.
He eventually did late in the game and he burst through, but the bird had flown.
This was just Farmer’s Friend’s 4th race start. He’s trained by Cody Morgan and looks a genuine bush star in the making.
